Looking back on this project, though it was difficult for me to create a lesson plan, it will help me with my future career of being an elementary school teacher. I also like to think that I made a difference in the girls' lives. This made me realize just how much the younger girls look up to me, and that I can be a mentor to them. I now make more of an effort to carry myself confidently so that whoever is watching will have an example to look to.
Creating a lesson plan was most definitely one of my learning stretches. Usually, I "go with the flow" and do things spontaneously without much planning and go where it leads me. However, with this project I had to carefully plan out what I was going to teach the girls about having a positive self-image. I couldn't really just "wing it" and successfully impact them. Because having a healthy self-image is so important, I had to take this matter seriously.
It is my hope that I made a difference in the girls' lives. They all enjoyed themselves, and asked me to have a similar event next year. After the event, all of the girls were smiling and walked with their backs straighter, and just seemed to be a little more confident.
I never truly realized before just how much of an impact I can have on those around me. With the younger girls especially, I am a role model that they try to follow. Not only can I have mentors of my own, but I can be a mentor to these girls. Now I make more of an effort to carry myself as a princess, and walk confidently.
